Astra Agro discovered that the issue occurred due to a fire. PT SAS reported that they have collaborated with the necessary stakeholders including the Local Disaster Management Agency, the police, the army, and a neighboring mining company to combat the fire. Unfortunately, the dry weather has allowed the fire to spread out quickly. The team managed to put out the fire after a few days.

Astra Agro has requested PT SAS to restore the burned area including issuing a written commitment to improve their fire prevention management. PT SAS has stated their commitment to making the necessary corrections on the field. We continue to engage with them in order to ensure that the activities will be carried out as committed.

PT SAS has shared their plan and timetable for addressing this issue.
June 2020
PT SAS has shown positive progress in the implementation of their action plan by providing evidence extracted from the field. Astra Agro will continue to monitor this progress as we enter the dry season.
